Be sure to spend some time in Seward before or after a cruise. Stay in luxury or affordable hotels, cheap motels or in a unique wilderness lodge close to the cruise pier. Nearest properties are located less than a mile away on the waterfront in the Small Boat Harbor. Chartered fishing, hiking, and wildlife cruises are all offered from the Small Boat Harbor. More lodging can be found within 2 miles of the cruise terminal.

Another option is to stay in Anchorage before or after a cruise for one or more nights. There are a lot more lodging options. Popular is also a visit to Denali National Park or Homer. Most cruise passengers fly into or out from Ted Stevens International Airport (ANC). The Alaska Railroad Depot is a few blocks away from most properties.     Located approximately 1 mile from the historic downtown area, the harbor cruise terminal on Port Avenue is mainly used by Royal Caribbean RCL, Holland America Line HAL and Celebrity Cruises.     Depending on the mode of travel, the trip from Anchorage to the port of Seward can take anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours. From Anchorage airport you can can travel to Seward via train (Alaska railroad), motor coach, vehicles for hire, and rental car. We can strongly recommend to reserve a rental car in advance.

    Rental Car — there is a rental car kiosk located in the cruise passenger terminal.

    From Anchorage Airport (130 miles):

    Take the International Airport Road east until you reach Minnesota Drive. Turn right on Minnesota Drive and follow the signs to Seward Highway South. Once you are on Seward Highway, travel distance to Seward is approximately 130 miles.

    Once you are in Seward, follow the signs to the Alaska Railroad Dock. You will also be able to see the ship terminal from the highway on your left as you enter Seward.

    Fairbanks International Airport — Fairbanks is 8 to 10 hours driving from Seward. Anchorage is about 360 miles away.

    The Alaska Railroad offers daily summer service from Fairbanks each morning to Denali National Park, Talkeetna and Anchorage.
